I have allocated ‘exercise’ time for myself and I do a variety of things - gymnastics, handstands, cartwheels, exercises, basketball, hang/monkey bars and stretch bands to remain fit and energetic throughout the duration of my home stay.

Hello, my name is Jeshna Mehra and I am from grade 7…

I have a record of staying at home until now and i am going to complete a full year very soon.

This means I have ‘Not’ stepped outside the gate of the flat since 16th March 2020.

I feel it is a considerable goal and I’m doing my bit to keep safe. It’s a goal I had set for myself, which requires a lot of will-power, a great deal of determination and most of all, self-discipline!

Hence, I wanted to share this achievement with all of you!

Since I made my decision, I have not been lured by any lunches/plans with friends/ trips, birthday’s, shopping and many others, and am extremely proud to say, that all of this was not very difficult once I set my mind to it, since I could connect with my friends at a moments notice over zoom.

I have tried to have a balanced life, have been very happy and extremely productive as well.

I have invested my time by doing different activities at home- being with grandma & keeping her company, learning ‘crochet’ from her, and making trinkets with this newfound talent.

I also taught myself how to ‘ tye & dye’ and created many great colour combinations of ‘scrunchies’ (hair accessory), made an Instagram account for this small business venture that I have created and sold many of my creations to happy customers.

I have also redone my room in terms of decor and adding things to enhance it. I have developed a keen interest in baking:- cup cakes, cookies and cakes which again I have picked up as a passion for baking from online directly.

I train and play with my dog at home and have taught him several tricks too.

I have allocated ‘exercise’ time for myself and I do a variety of things – gymnastics, handstands, cartwheels, exercises, basketball, hang/monkey bars and stretch bands to remain fit and energetic throughout the duration of my home stay.

I sit by the ‘Sun’ to get my source of vitamin D, in my living room by the window. I have also developed a passion for ‘singing’ and bought myself (with my own savings) a karaoke system and a mike, and practice in my free time which I enjoy.

I have further invested on a camera stand (again from my savings), and I’m working at different shots and captures as a hobby too (after learning from a few online sources).

Lastly, I read daily to keep up my language skills, creativity & imagination, since I enjoy it & to keep my skills in place 🙂

Of course, while doing this I have kept up with online schooling, homework, classes and extra things like the IT fest! I have been spending family time together, with meals, movies, games etc. Also maintaining a balanced diet to boost my immunity with fruits and vegetables and trying out different cuisines to increase my palate.

I have happily and excitedly been on Zoom bday parties, school projects and late night meets with friends, watching movies together (through a website) and using technology to our advantage and keeping my friends social quotient alive and connected:)

I have enjoyed the experience of online schooling with balanced learning in terms of tests, creative projects, group assignments, online classes and being there every single day enthusiastically to meet up with my teachers and peers.

It was my wish to communicate to you that in a balanced and relaxed way I had set this goal for myself and have spent it well.

I want to mark, a year in March and I say it’s a goal I have decided and it’s once in a lifetime, so please don’t force me to go out….

So, sharing this mammoth achievement with you 🙂
