PRODUCTIVITY…a need or want?

Biggest Burden of 2020: ways to increase productivity…

The dichotomy between the liberal days of 2019 and the confined days of 2020 has faceted many new personalities in the façade of a cycler, a chef, a potato couch, a tech-expert, an artist, a musician, a dancer, a fitness freak, etc. It has also instilled in many minds that PRODUCTIVITY is the NEED of the hour…but is it an obligation to fulfill?

This lock down could have been a milestone in the lives of most people, with a legions of time to pursue a new career, acquire a master’s degree, whip up a new invention or a succulent dish, but what if an ordinary being like me, was too beguiled binge-watching Netflix, catching up on lost sleep, playing a game of cards or skedaddling on a movie spree? Should my lack of productivity and a tranquil period of rejuvenation make me prey to excess guilt? Should it burden me with the possibility of an unsuccessful future or the apprehensions of being tagged as a failure by the hypocrites of the society? NO.

The aforementioned quote is one I would like to emphasize and use to snap every spring of unhappiness, culpability, which are denizens of most minds in 2020. Productivity at the cost of dwindling mental health, especially in today’s newfangled and competitive world, can dismantle you inside-out and is not worth its catastrophic effects.

It is important to note that the biggest straitjacket towards the efficiency, that we are all in quest of, is the pressure of living up to the notions of your surroundings and creating a melancholic atmosphere for yourself rather than reveling in the diverse phases of the biological clock you are endowed with. An extensive study has found that workers are 13% more productive when happy, therefore it’s NOT A CRIME to indulge in activities that provide you with euphoria and enlighten your mood because REMEMBER your life is not your bank account; your awards, certificates, medals or your social status.
