WHAT'S NEW AT DYPIS

This academic year sees several new initiatives in the domain of co-curricular activities @ DYPIS

Ozone day - Beach clean up

Mumbai bid lord Ganesha a tearful adieu on Sunday. The huge crowd at Dadar Chowpatty leaves a lot of biodegradable as well as non-biodegradable waste on the beach. Students of grade 5 of D.Y.Patil International School got down to work on cleaning the mess which would have otherwise washed down in the sea affecting the marine animals habitat. Collecting plastic cans, bottle caps, straws to flowers and coconut offerings students collaboratively worked to clean up the beach!

Ozone day - Street play

Grade 5 students presented a street play at Shivaji Park for creating awareness about ways to save the ozone layer. Students had written the script in English as well as in local languages Marathi and Hindi. Students encouraged onlookers to take the cleanliness pledge at the end of their street play.

Ozone day - Silent March

Ozone day is celebrated on 16th September worldwide. To sensitize the community about the usage of ozone friendly methods, students of D. Y. Patil International School, Worli, from grade 4 had a slogan writing activity as an Art Integration for their unit on the transdisciplinary theme 'Sharing the planet'. On 24th September, these climate crusaders went out in the neighbourhood for a silent march with their posters for ways to save ozone layer.

Global Perspectives - Guest lecturer

Mr Haryanawalla, a start up expert was invited as a guest lecturer to share his experiences with the students of Grade 9 studying Global Perspectives. The goal was to give them an opportunity to develop their critical thinking skills as well understand better the art of questioning. Students came up with well developed questions and were appreciated by the guest for their interest, curiosity and excitement.

Saumya Mehta of grade 12 has won first place at the Wharton Business Plan Competition

Saumya Mehta of grade 12 has won first place at the Wharton Business Plan Competition, The award for Best Enterprising Mind, Best Business Writer and the Social Media challenge! Saumya is currently pursuing a summer programme at Wharton Business School at UPenn. DYPIS extends a hearty congratulations to Saumya for this great achievement!
