    CAS Programme @ DYPIS

…If you believe in something, you must not just think or talk or write, but you must act.

    -- Peterson (2003)

Personal leadership is a unique hallmark of the IB Diploma Programme, and hence is part of the basis of the mission of the International Baccalaureate Organization. One of the main objectives of the IB Diploma Program is to produce potential "world citizens" – people who exhibit leadership, but in a way that respects and unites humanity.

In the framework of Creativity, Action and Service (which is one of the core components of the IB Diploma) all students are expected to personally take leadership roles of some kind.

CAS enables you as a student to enhance your personal and interpersonal development through experimental learning. At the same time, it provides an important counterbalance to the academic pressures of the rest of the Diploma Programme. A good CAS programme should be both challenging and enjoyable, a personal journey of self-discovery.

The three strands of CAS, which are often interwoven with particular activities, are characterized as follows:

Creativity: arts and other experiences that involve creative thinking.

Action: physical exertion contributing to a healthy lifestyle, complementing academic work elsewhere in Diploma Programme.

Service: an unpaid and voluntary exchange that has a learning benefit for the student. The rights, dignity and autonomy of all those involved are respected.

Although all members of the DYPIS community engage in service activities, this is not mere “adding up of hours” to meet the CAS requirement. Rather, DYPIS seeks to have the students reflect on the experience of the action itself and how it might have affected them as human beings and become life-long socially responsible citizens.

The range of activities our students shall be involved with as part of the CAS Programme will be as follows:

    1.Animation & Film Making

Students would learn about the basics of animation and film making. At the end of the course, students would be able to produce their own short film.
